 The Institute's programmmes focus on four main areas:

The thrust of activities have been shaped by experiences of the past 5 years, during which IDEG had been involved in national projects ranging from the participatory review of past Structural Adjustment Programmes in Ghana (SAPRI) and the joint formulation of draft National Policy for Strategic Partnership with NGO in Ghana, to the formulation of the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy (GPRS, 2003-2005), and the Consolidating Democratic Governance Program (CDGP, 2002-2005).

The Institute offers a range of services including:

  • Theory-grounded and action-oriented research on public policy and democratic governance issues using a variety of methods including participatory techniques and opinion surveys
  • Developing appropriate methodologies and systems for effective consultation and participation of civil society actors in public policy processes
  • Organising knowledge enhancing and skills-training workshops as well as public forums for enhanced deliberations dialogue and consensus building on public policy choices
  • Documentation, publication and dissemination of information on public policies, debates, processes and good practices in governance
  • Advisory services on state-civil society-private sector relations and partnerships
